Ancient Aliens – The Forbidden Bible

Ancient Aliens – The Forbidden Bible: Rebellious angels, giant hybrid beings, and humans taken up to a heavenly realm above the Earth; examining the possiblility that The Book of Enoch was stricken from the Bible because it documents humanity’s extraterrestrial origins.

Ancient Aliens is an American television series that premiered on April 20, 2010, on the History channel. Produced by Prometheus Entertainment in a documentary style, the program presents hypotheses of ancient astronauts and proposes that historical texts, archaeology, and legends contain evidence of past human-extraterrestrial contact. The show has been widely criticized by historians, cosmologists, archaeologists and other scientific circles for presenting and promoting pseudoscience, pseudohistory and pseudoarcheology.

The segment starts in Ethiopia to rehearse familiar stories that its mythic connection to Solomon and Sheba is true. It cites Ethiopia’s canonization of the Book of Enoch as something important, mostly an excuse to rehearse even more familiar stories about Enoch, the Watchers, and the Nephilim. While it is true that the full book exists only in Ge’ez, fragments of the Greek text do exist, so it is not entirely true that it is known only from Ethiopian evidence.

Tsoukalos claims the book describes an alien “abduction” and removal to a spaceship. Nothing in the story has anything to do with that, but if you decide that “heaven” is space or a spaceship, I suppose anything can sound like anything else. Tsoukalos claims that Zeus seizing Ganymede to become his paramour and houseboy is also an alien abduction equivalent to Enoch. I guess the alien believers really have a thing about anal probing. There’s probably something psychosexual about that.

The Lost Books of the Bible and the Forgotten Books of Eden (1926) is a collection of 17th-century and 18th-century English translations of some Old Testament Pseudepigrapha and New Testament apocrypha, some of which were assembled in the 1820s, and then republished with the current title in 1926.
