Ancient Aliens - The UFO Conspiracy

Ancient Aliens – The UFO Conspiracy: In 2017, it was revealed that the Department of Defense recently spent millions investigating reports of UFOs. This is the latest disclosure about a series of secret government UFO projects.

The episode opens with the New York Times report about the Pentagon UFO program, which we have covered in these pages several times since the publication of the story in December. “It is the single biggest ever news in the entire history of the UFO phenomenon,” Nick Pope says, breathlessly. He wrongly implies that the aerial phenomena tracking program, funded by the effort of U.S. senators Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), and Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), at the request of billionaire UFO believer Robert Bigelow, to whom the actual tracking work was subcontracted, is much more involved, serious, or important than the midcentury UFO investigations of various government and military agencies. Those were more serious, more thorough, and broader in scope and scale.

Ancient Aliens is an American television series that premiered on April 20, 2010, on the History channel. Produced by Prometheus Entertainment in a documentary style, the program presents hypotheses of ancient astronauts and proposes that historical texts, archaeology, and legends contain evidence of past human-extraterrestrial contact. The show has been widely criticized by historians, cosmologists, archaeologists and other scientific circles for presenting and promoting pseudoscience, pseudohistory and pseudoarchaeology.

UFO conspiracy theory

UFO conspiracy theories argue that various governments, and politicians globally, most especially the officials of Washington, D.C., are suppressing evidence of extraterrestrial unidentified flying objects and alien visitors. Such conspiracy theories commonly argue that Earth governments, especially the Government of the United States, are in communication or cooperation with extraterrestrials despite public claims to the contrary, and further that some of these theories claim that the governments are explicitly allowing alien abduction.

Various UFO conspiracy ideas have flourished on the internet and were frequently featured on Art Bell’s program, Coast to Coast AM.

Individuals who have publicly stated that UFO evidence is being suppressed include Senator Barry Goldwater, British Admiral Lord Hill-Norton (former NATO head and chief of the British Defence Staff), Vice Admiral Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter (first CIA director), astronauts Gordon Cooper and Edgar Mitchell, and former Canadian Defence Minister Paul Hellyer. Beyond their testimonies and reports they have presented no evidence to substantiate their statements and claims. According to the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry little or no evidence exists to support them despite significant research on the subject by non-governmental scientific agencies.
