Celebrity MasterChef UK 2021 episode 16: It’s finals week, and the five remaining cooks will be pushed to deliver food on a whole new level as they continue to battle to become champion.
The celebrities start by facing their most daunting challenge yet. They will be immersed in a culinary tradition that’s been part of British culture for over 600 years – the pie. Working at the Holborn Dining Rooms pie room with chef Calum Franklin, who has devoted the last seven years to elevating the humble pie to a culinary art form, they will each be responsible for reproducing one of Calum’s creations for a dining room of pie experts.
Then it’s back to the MasterChef kitchen, where the final five must each create one exceptional dish inspired by the flavours of the sweet shop. The celebrities must impress John and Gregg by showing creativity, skill, flair and a determination to remain in the competition.
For the cook who doesn’t make the grade, the competition will be over. The remaining four will go through, taking a step closer to being crowned 2021 Celebrity MasterChef champion.
Celebrity MasterChef UK 2021 episode 16
Celebrity MasterChef was devised as a celebrity version of MasterChef Goes Large. The show was screened on BBC One from 2006 to 2011. Originally, 24 celebrities participated in each series with three contestants per episode following the full MasterChef Goes Large test.
In 2011, the programme was moved to a daily daytime slot with 30 episodes screened over six weeks and with only 16 celebrities. Catch-up shows were broadcast on Fridays at 20:30 (30 minutes) and on Saturdays at various times (60 minutes). In 2012, the show moved to BBC Two due to low ratings and returned to an evening 18:30 slot. In 2013, it moved back to BBC One prime time, shown at 20:00. Since 2014, the show has had 20 celebrities competing for the title.
