Sophie visits a rose farm to learn all about the hard work that goes into growing bare rooted roses and gets some tips on planting and caring for them from grower Brian Wagner. Sophie hits the road and heads to rosier pastures – the Wagner’s Rose Nursery in Kalangadoo, South Australia, to see just what is involved in growing and selling this most beloved of plants.

A Bountiful Block

Josh meets a couple of dedicated gardeners to see the interesting and exotic crops they are growing in their Perth backyard. Josh visits some old friends to have a look at how their abundant patch and how it has changed since he last visited in 2011.

Dario and Michele Franzinelli have a large residential block in suburban Perth that is absolutely overflowing with productive plants and fruiting trees, ranging from the everyday to the exotic. Eight years ago, there was still plenty of space to grow for the couple, including their front yard, and even the nature strip. On this visit, Josh finds that this is one couple who are truly growing food instead of lawns – and loving it!
