The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2023 episode 2: The second episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2023 featured an exciting lineup of celebrity bakers, including AJ Odudu, Gemma Collins, Jessica Hynes, and Tim Key. The contestants were challenged to make sandwich cakes and a classic tart before recreating their earliest childhood memory in choux pastry.


 

 



This year’s season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off is in support of Stand Up to Cancer 2023, with 20 famous faces competing to be named the Star Baker and help fund cancer research. The celebrity bakers enter the famous Bake Off tent, warmly greeted by the charming hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas. Judging the bakes are the renowned Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, who offer their expertise to decide on the best bakes.

 

 

The cast includes David Schwimmer, Tom Davis, Rose Matafeo, Jesy Nelson, Jay Blades MBE, Judi Love, Mike Wozniak, Deborah Meaden, and many more. All of them joined Matt Lucas in the tent to showcase their baking skills and impress the judges while baking for Stand Up to Cancer.

 

 

The bakers took on one Signature, Technical, and Showstopper challenge set by Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. At the end of each episode, one person was named Star Baker. The charming duo of Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas cheered the contestants on, providing both support and consolation along the way. The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2023 is a perfect opportunity to raise funds for Stand Up to Cancer while enjoying delicious bakes.

Paul Hollywood – The Iconic Judge of Bake Off

Paul Hollywood is an iconic figure in the baking world and has become a household name through his role as a judge on the popular baking show, Bake Off. Since the show’s inception, Paul has been a part of the team, initially judging alongside Mary Berry, until the program moved to Channel 4 in 2017. Paul’s expertise in baking has led him to host the US version of the show, The American Baking Competition. Moreover, he has served as a head baker at various hotels in the UK and abroad, beginning his career at his father’s bakery when he was still in his teens.

Although it was Bake Off that propelled Paul to fame, he had already made a few TV appearances on shows such as The Heaven and Earth Show and This Morning. Since making a name for himself as a judge, he has been part of several other programs, including his own show, Paul Hollywood’s Pies and Puds. Paul is known for his critical remarks and his challenging tasks in the signature challenge. His highly sought-after “Hollywood handshakes” awarded for outstanding bakes have become a popular feature of the show.

Prue Leith – The Respected Food Critic

Prue Leith is a highly respected British chef, restaurateur, and TV personality. Born in South Africa on February 18, 1940, she later moved to England in the 1960s. In the 1970s, Prue’s exceptional culinary skills led her to open her own restaurant, Leith’s, in London, which established her as an accomplished restaurateur. She then expanded her career to television, where she has served as a judge on several popular cooking shows, including “The Great British Menu” and “The Great British Bake Off.”

Apart from being an acclaimed chef, Prue has also authored numerous cookbooks and novels. She is a highly regarded food writer and journalist. In addition to her culinary achievements, Prue is a notable businesswoman who has chaired the UK government’s School Food Trust. Her significant contributions to the food industry earned her the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) title in 1989. She was also appointed the Chancellor of Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh in 2017.
