Frost Protection

Tino demos how to build quick and easy covers for frost sensitive vegetables at The Patch. Tino Carnevale is preparing The Patch for frosty nights ahead. Frost is caused by cold air sinking to the ground on cold, still, clear nights.

Plants are affected by frost when the water in their leaf cells freezes and expands. As the ice thaws, the cell walls collapse.

Driveway Garden

Millie revamps and replants a shady garden bed in a challenging spot. Millie Ross only has a narrow driveway garden but it’s in full sun and pumps out food and flowers all year around. However, on the other side of the drive, her neighbour’s border is in deep shade most of the time – except for late afternoons, when it gets blasted by the setting sun. Half of the bed is under overhanging eaves, making it dry too; a really tough spot to grow plants.

Aroids Aplenty

App-y Worms
