Celebrity MasterChef UK 2022 episode 8

Celebrity MasterChef UK 2022 episode 8: Heat three continues with the four remaining celebrities facing three more culinary challenges as they compete for a place in the quarter-final. Tonight’s first challenge is a Knowledge and Skills Test, where the celebrities have the terrifying task of facing judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace one on one. They must attempt to demonstrate their ability to make crêpe Suzette in just 20 minutes.

Up until this point, the celebrities have been cooking food as they would at home, but to show them what restaurant cooking is all about, John and Gregg have invited in a professional chef. Originally from Calcutta, now the owner and head chef of the critically acclaimed Darjeeling Express in central London, Asma Khan challenges each of the four celebrities to cook one of her recipes.

Then it’s crunch time as there’s just one more chance for the four celebrities to earn themselves a place in the quarter-final. Their brief to stay in the competition – to cook John and Gregg brunch. With just one hour to cook, and only three quarter-final places up for grabs, the celebrities give it their all in a final attempt to prove themselves to the judges. At the end of this test, one of them will be going home.

Over six weeks, John Torode and Gregg Wallace are putting their taste buds through a sensory assault course, discovering which celebrities have the palate and skill to chop, slice and sizzle their way to lifting the iconic Celebrity MasterChef trophy.

Celebrity MasterChef was devised as a celebrity version of MasterChef Goes Large. The show was screened on BBC One from 2006 to 2011. Originally, 24 celebrities participated in each series with three contestants per episode following the full MasterChef Goes Large test.

In 2011, the programme was moved to a daily daytime slot with 30 episodes screened over six weeks and with only 16 celebrities. Catch-up shows were broadcast on Fridays at 20:30 (30 minutes) and on Saturdays at various times (60 minutes). In 2012, the show moved to BBC Two due to low ratings and returned to an evening 18:30 slot. In 2013, it moved back to BBC One prime time, shown at 20:00. Since 2014, the show has had 20 celebrities competing for the title.
