The Great Christmas Bake Off 2022

The Great Christmas Bake Off 2022: The Great British Bake Off crew are back for another festive special this Christmas, giving a group of celebs a chance to show off their baking skills (or lack of). This December, five celebrities will step into the Bake Off tent as they take on a Signature, Technical and Showstopper challenge in a bid to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. At the end of the episode, one of the celebs will be named this year’s festive Star Baker.

The upcoming Christmas Bake Off episode will see five celebrities enter the competition in hopes to attain the last Star Baker award in 2023. To do so, though, they must once-again impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. Presenting the festive special will be the returning Noel Fielding, who for the last time will work alongside co-host Matt Lucas. The comedian confirmed his departure from hosting The Great British Bake Off earlier this month to pursue other projects.

Stepping up to the plate in a bid to be crowned this year’s festive champ is broadcaster Terry Christian, TV presenter Gaby Roslin, actor Sir Tony Robinson, Popworld presenter Miquita Oliver and actress Claire Sweeney, who many will recognise from noughties soap Brookside.

The Great Christmas Bake Off 2022

The Great Christmas Bake Off is a British television series that aired on BBC One as part of the Great British Bake Off franchise. The series features amateur bakers competing in a series of challenges to determine the best baker. The competition is typically held during the holiday season and features festive themes and challenges. Each episode typically consists of three challenges, including a signature bake, a technical challenge, and a showstopper challenge. The judges evaluate the bakers’ creations based on taste, presentation, and technical skills. The Great Christmas Bake Off is typically hosted by Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding, with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith providing feedback and guidance to the bakers. The series has been popular in the UK and has aired annually since 2017.

Paul Hollywood

The elder statesman of Bake Off, Paul is the only member of the team who has been with the show since its very beginning, originally judging alongside Mary Berry until the move to Channel 4 in 2017. Paul also hosts the US version of the programme, The American Baking Competition and has served as head baker at a number of hotels in the UK and abroad, after first beginning his career at his father’s bakery when he was still in his teens.

Although it was Bake Off that really made Paul a household name, he had made some other TV appearances beforehand on shows including The Heaven and Earth Show and This Morning, while since making his name as a judge he has appeared on a number of programmes including his own show Paul Hollywood’s Pies and Puds.

Paul is known for his often harsh comments and for setting frequently challenging tasks in the signature challenge, while his coveted “Hollywood handshakes” reserved for the very best bakes have become a popular feature of the show.

Prue Leith

Prue Leith is a British chef, restaurateur, and cookery writer. She is best known for her role as a judge on the popular British television series The Great British Bake Off, where she has been a regular judge since the show’s inception in 2010. Prior to her involvement with The Great British Bake Off, Leith had a successful career in the food industry, including owning and operating a number of restaurants and publishing numerous cookery books. Leith has also served as a food critic and has contributed to various food-related publications. In addition to her work in the food industry, Leith has been involved in various charitable and philanthropic endeavors, including serving as the President of the Royal Society of Arts and as a trustee of the Children’s Food Trust.
